Grass can turn yellow due to overwatering, heat stress, or nutrient deficiency. Chlorosis is the yellowing of the leaves. You may need to cut back on watering, turfgrass only needs 1 inch of water a week. Heat and drought can also cause discoloring. Iron deficiency can also be a cause. In this case a soil sample would need to be taken to analyze the nutrients in the soil.
